Paramedics provided medical attention at the scene before the victim was taken to hospital in critical condition. However, he died shortly afterwards.

The man’s identity has not yet been released.

“We are aware of the unfortunate incident that occurred inside Acrisure Stadium today,” the Steelers said in a statement. “We are working with local authorities to assist them in their investigation and extend our condolences to the family.”

According to CBS , this is not the first time a major accident has occurred involving an escalator at an NFL stadium.

An escalator incident at Gillette Stadium — home of the New England Patriots — in 2021 also sent nine people to the hospital.

Recently, in August, a woman fell to her death from an escalator after a concert inside Mile High Stadium.
