Football fans are losing their minds over a video of Michigan Wolverines quarterback Alex Orji displaying his incredible athleticism during a workout session.

With 2023 starting quarterback JJ McCarthy making the jump to the NFL, the Wolverines will have a new guy running the offense this year. Alex Orji is one of the three leading candidates to take over the QB1 job, along with Jack Tuttle and Davis Warren.

Bruce Feldman of The Athletic posted a video of a “freak” Orji picking up popcorn kernels while pistol squats on a wobbly block. Have a look at his jaw-dropping flexibility and balance skills below:

Fans were absolutely mind-blown over Alex Orji’s “freak” performance in the gym:

The Wolverines will look a lot different in 2024, and not just with Alex Orji potentially replacing JJ McCarthy as the starting quarterback. Head coach Jim Harbaugh left the program after nine years to accept the Los Angeles Chargers’ HC vacancy.Other core players from the 2023 national championship-winning team that were drafted in the NFL include defensive tackle Kris Jenkins (drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals), cornerback Mike Sainristil (Washington Commanders), linebacker Junior Colson (Chargers), running back Blake Corum (Los Angeles Rams) and wide receiver Roman Wilson (Pittsburgh Steelers).

Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore has not provided a timeline for announcing his quarterback decision. The defending national champions begin their 2024 season on Aug. 31 at home against the Fresno State Bulldogs.

Through his first two seasons at Michigan, Orji has completed one pass attempt (in 2022) while carrying the ball 21 times. He has rushed for 123 yards and three total touchdowns, displaying his ability to flourish as a dual-threat QB.

McCarthy (drafted 10th overall by the Minnesota Vikings) flourished in a game manager role at Michigan. We’ll see if Michigan’s next starting QB can take the offense to a new level in 2024.
