Taylor Swift conquers audience despite technical problems

Taylor Swift knows the show must go on no matter what and she proved it after a stage malfunction in New Orleans. During the singer’s Sunday, October 27, concert, a moving part of the stage got stuck, but Taylor proved to be the ultimate professional as she improvised to continue the show.

The malfunction happened during The Tortured Poets Department set of the show. While performing “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?,” Taylor, 34, usually stands on a moving platform that fans have compared to a Roomba vacuum. The platform travels back and forth on the stage throughout the song, but this time, it stayed in place.

The “Blank Space” singer thought quickly on her feet and began moving across the stage herself, running from front to back and side to side in the same path that the “Roomba” usually takes. She also made sure to end right where she was supposed to so she could continue the next part of the performance as planned.

Back in June, there was another malfunction during the TTPD set when the platform Taylor was standing on didn’t lower to the ground when it was supposed to. However, the Grammy winner didn’t miss a beat as she got a helping hand from one of her dancers to get back to the ground safely.

Taylor Swift Performs After Stage Malfunctions at Eras Tour

Who Is Your Favorite Collaborator on Taylor Swift’s TTPD?

Fans have jokingly nicknamed Eras tour mishaps like these as the “Errors Tour.” Other examples included when Taylor’s microphone stopped working during the Lover set, the multiple times when she accidentally swallowed a bug on stage, and when she struggled to put on her dress for the surprise song segment of the show.

Taylor’s Sunday concert was the final of three shows in a row in Louisiana. The night before, she surprised the crowd by bringing Sabrina Carpenter on stage to sing her hit songs “Espresso” and “Please Please Please,” which they mashed up with Taylor’s track “Is It Over Now?” Sabrina, 25, was previously an opener on the Eras tour, but is currently on the road herself to promote her album Short n’ Sweet.

However, she had a night off and made the trip to New Orleans to give Taylor’s fans quite a treat. Those who attended one of the pop star’s concerts in London in August got a similar surprise when Taylor brought Ed Sheeran on stage to sing their collaborations “Everything Has Changed” and “End Game,” as well as Ed’s hit “Thinking Out Loud.” Taylor has also brought up other collaborators like Aaron Dessner and Jack Antonoff during the surprise songs set, and Gracie Abrams made an unexpected appearance in June so they could perform their duet “Us” live for the first time.

Gracie, 25, is actually the opening act for this final leg of the tour, which continues in Indianapolis, Toronto and Vancouver in the coming weeks. The Eras tour concludes on December 8. Taylor has not confirmed her plans for what’s next after the record-breaking tour comes to an end but fans are expecting the releases of her final two rerecorded albums – Reputation and Taylor Swift – in 2025.
