Linkin Park fans speculate on the reason behind the choice of a female vocalist for the band’s comeback.

Linkin Park fans have shared their views on the band announcing a new world tour with a female vocalist joining the group.

Dead Sara singer Emily Armstrong is officially a part of the nu metal band, now reuniting seven years after vocalist Chester Bennington died by suicide in 2017 at age 41.

Alongside Armstrong, songwriter and producer Colin Brittain has also joined the band as their new drummer.

Linkin Park shared that a six-date world tour and a brand new album, titled From Zero, are on the way.

They also dropped a new single titled ‘The Emptiness Machine’, giving fans a taste of what the new line-up sounds like.

Now, the band’s most loyal fans have taken to X to voice their thoughts on Armstrong.

Many have pointed out how having a female vocalist is the perfect choice to honour Bennington’s legacy and start anew.

“Gotta respect the hell out of Linkin Park, they knew they couldn’t replicate Chester’s voice, so they didn’t even try to,” one person wrote on X, while another deemed Armstrong a ‘pretty great’ choice.

“Emily Armstrong is actually a pretty great choice as a new vocalist for Linkin Park,” they said.

“I was a bit skeptical on Linkin Park adding a female vocalist but she sounds splendid live,” they added.

“Sounds close enough to Chester but different enough that it is not a shameless ripoff.”

Showing their support for Armstrong, someone else noted: “I love the choice of a female vocalist. It’s a good decision not to mimic Chester. So, please just be yourself, Emily! Like Amy Lee (Evanescence) proves, rock isn’t just about screaming.”

Some are still trying to ‘get used’ to the new vocals, with one person writing: “Excited they’re making music again, just gotta get used to their new singer. She’s great… it’s just different.”

“But I’m glad they didn’t try to find someone closer to Chester’s voice and went a different route with a female,” they added. “Leave his legacy alone and create a new era.”

“Someone else said it well, but Linkin Park knew they couldn’t replace Chester and they didn’t even try, and rightfully so,” was another comment. “She’s got her own style but also the grunge in her voice to really hone in on what Chester gave to the music. She’s great!”

From Zero comes seven years after the band’s most recent album, One More Light, released two months before Bennington’s death.

The world tour will see the band visiting Los Angeles, New York, London, Hamburg, Seoul and Bogota, with tickets going on general sale from tomorrow (September 7) from Ticketmaster and Seat Unique.
