Not beyond her wildest dreams! Amy Adams revealed she got to sing karaoke alongside Taylor Swift on the one occasion they met, but said the experience turned out “not great.”
During a Tuesday, December 3, appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Amy, 50, confessed she’s “always liked” Taylor’s music. She also revealed she went to the pop superstar’s Eras tour and “became a Swiftie at 50.”
The American Hustle star revealed she met Taylor “years ago” at a post-awards show party. “I know better than to go to the second party, but I chose to go to the second party and Taylor Swift was there,” she added.
“There was karaoke, and I sang karaoke with Taylor Swift,” Amy continued. “We sang ‘What’s Going On?’ and I may have sang it a little loud, and I’m sure everybody was like, ‘Amy, shut up! We want to hear Taylor sing.’ I was just in it, but I should have sat down and just let Taylor sing.”
“I had a blast,” the Oscar nominee confessed, although she had a big regret. “And now, in reflection, like if I were to do it now, I would be so different. I would like to think I would be different. I did the right thing. I sang really loud over Taylor Swift and probably not great.”
The topic of Taylor came up when Jimmy, 50, told Amy that there was an online campaign to get her to play the “Lavender Haze” singer’s publicist Tree Paine in a biopic, noting they both have the same red hair.
Who Is Your Favorite Collaborator on Taylor Swift’s TTPD?
“Uh, that would be amazing,” Amy replied. “That would be so fun. If it got me closer to Taylor, then that would be fun.”
The Enchanted star didn’t reveal which of Taylor’s Eras tour shows she attended, but Swifties only have three more chances left to see the epic concert before it ends for good.
Taylor kicks off her final three shows on Friday, December 6, at BC Place in Vancouver, Canada. Her last concert of the tour takes place on December 8.
The “Cruel Summer” songstress became teary-eyed over the tour ending during her November 21 concert in Toronto, Canada. She played six shows at the city’s Rogers Centre during the penultimate Eras tour stop.
When the audience gave Taylor a standing ovation after she performed “Champagne Problems,” she was overwhelmed emotionally while thanking them.
She began to thank those she’d worked with over the past 20 months, saying, “And to my band and to my crew and everybody who has put so much into this tour … and I don’t even know what I’m saying, I’m just having a bit of a moment, sorry,” while wiping tears from her eyes. “It’s not even the last show!” she added with a laugh.
After composing herself, Taylor continued, “My band, my crew, all my fellow performers, we have put so much of our lives into this. And you have put so much of your lives into being here with us tonight and giving us that moment that we’ll never forget. We’ve loved our time in Toronto, it’s been so amazing.”
Taylor began her Eras tour in March 2023 in Glendale, Arizona, and it has taken her across five continents. Upon its completion, she will have performed more than 150 shows.
