A passing car observed Violet the dog and many other dogs chained with extremely thick metal chains that not only prevented them from wandering, but also caused them harm.
Violet and the other five dogs were found on a property in New Mexico, where it is illegal to keep dogs chained when not under human control.
The local county sheriff’s department was reported to the property in an attempt to locate the owners, but the dogs had apparently been abandoned. They were all taken in by NMDOG, including Violet, beginning the road to recovery.
“She was surprised and is still a little apprehensive,” Stell added. Violet may have been mistreated as a result of her behavior, they say.
Fortunately, the puppy is currently in good health and recovering from her emotional trauma. He will be eligible for adoption once he completes his recovery process!
